After so many years, a new national education policy came out in India. Well, that’s how the government wants to portray to claim credit for doing their duty. In the first few days, most of the active media people started circulating their opinions through individual posts, TV debates, online discussion forums, newspaper articles etc., without understanding the full policy.

How many teachers have read the NEP 2020 draft policy after 10 days?

The question is not about how many has read, the real question is how many teachers wish to read the new national education policy?

The first questions that came to my mind about NEP 2020 are:

  • What should I do? (as a engaged productive contributing citizen?)
  • NEP 2020 has set several milestones, what are the goals for the teachers?
  • How much money will be spent on Sanskrit language development by the Central government?

I want to know the answers for the below questions…

  1. When will my village students be able to get enjoyable and inspirational books from school and public libraries?
  2. When will all the teachers read NEP 2020 policy document?
  3. When will India become a developed Nation?
  4. When will my village (read as all the villages) get the high-quality infrastructure, well ventilated, well designed, child-friendly, well constructed building which is well equipped for enriched learning environment for 3 years old kids with well trained Angawadi teachers/workers?
  5. How will the government certify social workers? and check that they are well trained and qualified?
  6. How will the government support every literate member of the nation to assist one student learn to read?

Today is India’s 74th Independence Day!

Let’s looks back if we can find some answers to what we have to do!

Tasks as defined by APJ Abdul Kalam, 11th President of India, from his 57th Independence Day speech in 2003.

Educationists should build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity, entrepreneurial and moral leadership among students and become their role model.

Who is ready to prioritize their thoughts on national development?

Conclusion from APJ Abdul kalam’s 57th Independence Day speech on 14/08/2003.

Let us sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.
